It’s been a little quiet on the blog as of late, getting settled in to 2016 and finally in the second trimester, this means I don’t feel like a zombie anymore! I’ve been catching up on my reading and loving every second of quiet time I get to steal, Here’s what I’ve been devouring:
Outrageous Openness by Tosha Silver
You won’t be able to put this book down, even non readers will eat it up! Tosha is Brilliant, a breath of fresh air and a reminder that it will all work out if you just let go! I love her no bullshit approach to the energetic world!
Change Me Prayers: The Hidden Power of Spiritual Surrender by Tosha Silver
She really does it again! It’s an amazing accompaniment to OO but perfect on it’s own too! These mantras, prayers, whatever you want to call them are truly life changing!
Rising Strong by Brene Brown
I apparently love no nonsense writers and Brene is definitely one of those, compassionately and strongly reminding us that vulnerability and openness are not for the faint of heart! I love her intelligence, research and voice!
A Perfectly messed-up Story by Patrick McDonnell
Ok, I know what you’re thinking, this is a children’s book…..
Yes and as a big kid myself I think it may be my favorite one on this list! A beautifully written and illustrated permission slip for all of us to stop forcing so hard and allow the “messed-up” parts of our lives to be the best parts!
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
An oldie but goodie, I can’t get enough of this book or author. It changed my life when I read it the first time and each time since it offers a new golden nugget! Be brave, be authentic, be yourself!
Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
This book found me at the perfect time. I was going through a major funk, call it ppd, the blahs, the frumpies etc. I was in pretty bad emotional shape, tired, bored, creatively depleted and nothing seemed to help…but this. It, Like Outrageous Openness is an easy read, broken up into lovely little bite size chunks. You’ll be up all night reading it though! It’s like sitting in a room having a chat with Liz and who doesn’t want that kind of friend!
Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert
This came to me by way of my favorite twin and fellow crafter Cat Babbie, and again, could not have come at a better time. My soul soaked it up! Liz interviews a bunch of women in different creative fields who feel stuck and then interviews an expert in each woman’s field so she can offer more advice as to how to get out of that rut. It’s beautiful and encouraging and what we should all be doing for one another! It was the first time listening to a podcast ever and I so hope she does another very soon!!
