I love pickles, all kinds, but especially bread and butter pickles, I could literally eat an entire jar, by myself, in one sitting! Jake grew tons of cucumbers this year so we were able to make oodles of both dill and bread and butter. A few years ago we tried the canning process and while it was fun, I felt like we just couldn’t get it quite perfect so here was our strategy this year…we existed the troops too!
We decided to do dill spears and bread and butter slices, it allowed us to save as much of the cucumber as possible, we cut the cucumber to fit the jars then into spears and the left over inches were sliced. The Dill Pickles were Jake and Stella’s domain. Amelie helped me with the Bread and Butters!
The whole process was a super fun family affair, Lucy had plans for a nap instead though. I got into the bread and butter pickles a day after we stuck them in the fridge and they were amazing ; ) Huge success!
